Carole James was greeted with a standing ovation as she addressed the CUPE BC Convention at the Victoria Convention Centre on April 24th. In her speech Carole contrasted the differences between Gordon Campbell’s record of high levels of child poverty and the privatization of public services with her vision for BC which will ensure affordable childcare and end the privatization of health care. CUPE President Barry O’Neill pledged support for Carole, stating: If you can count on anybody to do all that we can to make a change in this province, it’ll be the Canadian Union of Public Employees in British Columbia.
